Najla is a consultant in Special Care Dentistry and was a full-time member of staff at the Department of Sedation and Special Care Dentistry at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust since 2007.
I have a vast amount of experience in teaching and treating anxious / phobic patients under basic and advanced sedation techniques in both general practice and hospital settings. My areas of interest and expertise are in treating patients with basic and advanced conscious sedation techniques, managing the dental care of patients with haematological disorders and challenging medical problems and disabilities.
I am the course organiser for the undergraduate Sedation and Special Care dentistry course and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate MSc students in Sedation and Special Care dentistry clinically. I also carry out research related to sedation and special care dentistry and supervise postgraduate students through their research projects.
I am on the teaching faculty for SAAD (Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry) and have been lecturing for SAAD for 10 years. I also teach postgraduate courses on both basic and advanced conscious sedation to dentists and dental care professionals.
